What colour was Warsaw in the summer of 1944, what did its soldiers and inhabitants look like? How to colorize archival photographs without applying AI, but using only the knowledge of historians? And finally: how can we get young people interested in events from over 80 years ago?
Historians from the Warsaw Rising Museum and specialists from the ORKA post-production studio decided to answer this questions by colorizing 100 photos from Polish Capital in August and September 1944. The selection of photographs was made by the famous photojournalist Chris Niedenthal. In addition to exceptional photos, the album also features insurgent anecdotes, stories, and eyewitness accounts. All of this will tell a moving story about the 63 days of struggle of the Warsaw insurgents.
